Paper Title

Oxynitride from Oxide vs Nitride: Manifesting Competitive and Synergistic Properties in Titanium Oxynitride for Solar-Drive Water Splitting and Nitrogen Fixation

Highlights

TiOxNy was synthesized via oxide-to-oxynitride (TO-TON) and nitride-to-oxynitride (TN-TON) routes. TN-TON exhibited wider bandgap but better charge carrier lifetime than TO-TON. Both outperformed TiN and TiO2 for H2/NH3 production under sunlight. TN-TON showed superior performance with rates of 1432/646 μmol g-1 h-1, likely due to synergistic effects from nitride precursor.
